Soft and smooth lips are the most inviting to kiss.  Moist and smooth lips not only look healthy but also contribute in enhancing the face. Here are 5 tips to get a pout that screams to be smooched!

1. Go H2O!

Optimal hydration is the key to soft, full lips.  That Starbucks may be great in the morning, but excess caffeine may make you feel dehydrated since it’s a natural diuretic (makes you pee often!).  To help keep you hydrated throughout the day, consumption of an optimal amount of water on a regular basis will do wonders for your health and skin., and of course your lips!

2. Resist the urge to lick.

I know it’s instinct to lick your lips when they feel dry, but saliva contains natural salts. When you lick your lips and saliva evaporates, the salivary salt sits on the lips, causing further dryness.  Always keep  lip balm nearby and lick the habit of licking your lips! My top picks? Maybelline Baby Lips improves lip coloration and reduces the appearance of fine lines for younger looking, baby-smooth lips, and EOS lip balm is packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil.

3. Rock a a bright red lip!

The classic red lip is always in style, perks up the face, and draws attention to the mouth.  To make your teeth appear brighter,  choose a red that have undertones of blue.

4. Exfoliate!

Just like the skin on our face, the skin on the lips need regular exfoliation.  Keep them supple and smooth by using a sugar scrub to gently take off the dry layers. Make an at-home lip scrub by mixinglip balm (or Vaseline),  3-5 drops olive oil, and brown sugar. Mix ingredients in a small pot, apply using a circular motion to exfoliate, and rinse off excess with warm water.

5. Set it, and forget it!

For a hint of  color that stays long after a kissing session, opt to use a lip stain.  Make sure to apply a stain on freshly exfoliated lips so the color goes on smoothly. If your lips are dry and flakey, the stain could go in between the cracks,  and the color will look uneven.  As a finishing touch, apply a pop of shiny gloss to keep your kisser looking soft and shiny.  I love mark. Gloss Gorgeous Stay On Lip Stain because it’s a two in one application- it imparts color and shine in one easy step! Starts as a gloss and ends with a lip stain that stays put!
