The above treatments and more for a mere $50? Priceless!!
Reservations for Spa Week have officially begun, so get yourself out of the winter rut and rejuvenate in the luxury of facials, massages, and more without breaking the bank. At the Spa Week Media Party in NYC, I was able to get a preview of treats and treatments galore! From April 11- 17, over 800 spas across the country in various cities are participating in the event. From facials and lash extensions to laser skin treatments, many of these deals are hard to pass up. If you’re a newbie, read on for tips on Spa Week etiquette.
1. Seize the opportunity to try new treatments, after careful research and consideration.
Vajazzling? Reiki? What’s that? Many spas will feature treatments and procedures that you may not know a lot about. Even though it’s in vogue, the trendiest of treatments may not be for you. Always research a spa’s signature treatments, what your Yelp buddies are saying about them, and the after effects of certain treatments.
2. Consider the length of treatments.
Participating spas will all have a special $50 Spa Week menu, but what’s the best way to spend it? Do you have a crick in your neck that “kneads” special care? I always could go for more in time. If I’m torn between an 80 minute deep tissue or a 60 minute Spa/Wrap combo that only gives 30 minutes of massage, I would lean more towards the 20 extra minutes of TLC.
3. Choose treatments that won’t need multiple sessions to see results.
There are many deals during Spa Week that may seem like a deal, but are not. For example, a $50 laser hair removal bikini may seem cheap, but one treatment won’t really do much. For hair removal you would need at least 6 laser treatments…. 3 weeks apart. And follow-up treatments after Spa Week end*s cost much more.
4. Always show your spa professional the appreciation he/she deserves.
Your treatment may have been drastically reduced. If you’re feeling extra generous and happy about your d a superstar treatment, you may want to consider giving him or her your difference in savings. At the very least the standard 18% gratuity would suffice.
5. Oh no! You missed Spring Spa Week…
Don’t sweat, Spa Week happens twice a year. If you don’t get around to booking a Spa Week treatment this Spring, Fall Spa Week is usually in September/October!
