May is my most favorite month of the year: the weather starts to warm (finally!), the 16th day adds another digit to my age, and the best best birthday present every year is The Makeup Show! This year’s Makeup Show NYC included the biggest brand names and the most talented makeup artists in the beauty industry. Each year, it never fails to bring the creme de la creme of beauty products, insider techniques, and networking with professionals.

On May 14, The Makeup Show hosted a Blogger Preview party where fellow beauty blogger junkies unite and got the pleasure of a two-hour presentation of new products. The hilariously colloquial James Vincent shared his faves, and tips on how the beauty accouterments could be used to create something gorgeous. Aside from his wonderful tips and tricks, I would stay just to hear him sing karaoke all over again!

Later that evening, The Makeup Show hosted its first New York Groove, which was a gallery of makeup art and kick-off party for The Makeup Show NYC. The top beauty brands at the Makeup Show showcased the talents of their makeup artists as they painted and airbrushed their way to reveal live masterpieces. It was a true celebration on color, light, and texture!

I only attended The makeup Show on Sunday May 15, but that was enough to leave me googley-eyed as I happily skipped from one booth and seminar to the next. By noon, beauty fanatics swarmed exhibitors such as YSL, NARS, MAC, Make Up For Ever, Inglot, Stila, Obessive Compulsive Cosmetics, and Smashbox to get a peak of the outrageous deals, new products.
New and Noteworthy products I got excited over included:
Aqualiner by Makeup For Ever
YSL Shadow Quad (can be used wet or dry!)
Senna Eyebrow Kit
Luminess Pro airbrush system
Lip Tar by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics

This year, they had significantly more workshops and industry leaders giving their pearls of wisdom. I attended a very informative workshop by international editorial makeup artist, Jon Hennessey. His hands-on workshop helped me develop an understanding of the process makeup looks geared for magazines, print, and fashion oriented looks.
