2012 Style Reinvention

*

A new year definitely calls for new changes,  particularly in style and fashion.  This year,  my fashion New Year’s resolution is to take more risk,  particularly in wearing more colors and patterns.  I have to admit,  my closet is nothing more than just monochromatic colors of neutrals, browns, grays, and blacks.  Those colors just seem so easy to wear,  with minimal effort.

So for the New Year,  I decided to challenge myself, and develop a style reinvention plan: To go outside my fashion comfort zone!

*1) Each time I go shopping for wardrobe updates,  I have to avert from the banality of neutrals and blacks.

My purchase requirements are:

-patterned

-textured

-must not be neutral, black, or gray

*

2) At least once a week,  an outfit must have a statement color.

Whether it’s camel and green,  or fuchsia and yellow,  I plan to make a colorful statement every week!

*

3) At least once a week,  an outfit must have a standout mix of textures.

I’ve suddenly been struck buy the fashion bug and started incorporating more than just plain ol’ cotton in my style repertoire.  Leather, tweed, chiffon, chains, fur… I will no longer limit myself!

*

And so,  to start off my challenge,  I hit the NYC sale racks and purchased the following that my “former fashion self” would not normally purchase.  Here’s what was on top of my list:

Stay tuned on how I wear them! What are your New year Style Resolutions?
