It seems just like yesterday that we were all reveling in the golds and reds of autumn,  and now,  here we are and its February 2012.  Aside from Valentine’s Day being the focus of this month,  another exciting season of Fashion Week kicks off a new style calendar.  Amidst the glitz and glam of Fashion Week, we all still need to remember how much hard work is put in by everyone. From the designers to staff, to the models, interns, and media,  Fashion Week is 10 days of back to back 14+ hour workdays.

I, like many other bloggers and freelance writers, have full-time job, and do our fashion-y jobs in our spare time.  Fashion Week is a cycle of watching runway shows, organizing stories in 20-25 minutes,  and then rushing onto the next show or backstage. It doesn’t matter what line you get on, but after the third day, things get tough! So to make Fashion Week a bit easier to get through,  I’ve compiled some necessities that you can’t just go without!

Smart Phone

My iPhone houses all my tickets, show schedules, and notes throughout the day.  I cannot possibly Fashion Week, let alone my life, without it!

*

Business Cards

NetWork it! Fashion Week is one huge networking event.  From designers, PR reps, fellow media, and just really fun and cool people you’ll want to keep in touch with,  having business cards is an easy way to get yourself introduced. You never know who you’ll meet!

Folding Ballet Flats

Those perfect sky-high heels were what your outfit was centered on,  but make sure to save your feet by slipping on something comfortable throughout the day to let your feet rest.

*

Emergen-C

From the shows to the partying, long hours during Fashion Week could take a toll on your immune system.  These packets give you that extra boost of health and makes sure to keep you hydrated.

*

Advil

I love the dance tunes that models strut to down the runway,  but I have to admit that by 5PM I often myself with a pounding beat in my head that’s as loud as the music.  Luckily,  these are my defense to keep on keepin’ on with the show!

*

Extra Camera with extra batteries

It’s very hard not to get clicker happy! And more often than not I’ve kicked myself for being mid-way through the day with a dead camera.  So I got into the habit of bringing a purse-sized one with an extra battery to make sure I get pix right when I need them.

MyCharge Portable charging unit and Mophie Juice Pack

These have to be the best and most useful inventions ever for Fashion Week! All tool often I find myself with a dead phone from hours to tweeting, Facebooking, and doing live updates.  Well,  not anymore!  Mophie extends the life of my phone,  while MyCharge revives it 4 times over if it dies!

*

Olloclip iPhone Lens

To quickly capture a runway show without having to take out that bulky DSLR,  I’m relying on this little baby to get those shots! With 3 lenses- Macro, Wide Angle, and Fisheye-  all in one!

*

Healthy snacks

When I can’t get to a press lounge, I usually keep almonds, protein bars, an apple,  vegetable sticks,  and a bottle water in my bag.

*

Mini cosmetics case

Hours are long, and you need to freshen up periodically! This always make sure you’re camera-ready.

What’s in your Fashion Week Survival Kit to get you through the shows?
