POSITIVELY Beautiful!

I can’t.

It’s too difficult.

I will never succeed.

I must admit,  more often than I would like,  I have found myself immersed in endless thoughts of pessimism.

Positive self-talk helps to change the way you see yourself.

Many of us are in a constant state of mental chatter,  and unfortunately, about eight times out of ten it’s frequently negative.  Oftentimes, these negative thoughts stem from guilt from our past,  or anxiety about the future.  No matter the root of the cause,  negativity destroys any seeds of hope that may otherwise sprout in striving for our dreams.

*

According to research from the Mayo Clinic, health benefits of positive thinking include:

  • Increased life span
  • Lower rates of depression
  • Lower levels of distress
  • Greater resistance to the common cold
  • Better psychological and physical well-being
  • Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease

*

Our actions are inspired and governed by our thoughts. If we can change the way we think, we can begin to change the way act,  and the way we feel. Hence, Caitlin Boyle, the editor of Operation Beautiful had the right idea with a pen, post-it,  and beautiful thoughts.  Operation Beautiful was started by leaving positive mantras on the mirrors of  public restrooms. This has led to a whole network of people wanting to share the love and positive light to others.

Need other ways to dig you out of the rut of negative thinking? Add these to your day for some positive changes.

-Laugh it off. It’s true when they say that laughter is the best medicine. Jokes and funny stories are great mood elevators that bring a chuckle, if not a smile to your face.

Carpe Diem. Live your life to the fullest and in the present,  forget past problems and future worries.  What has happened is irreversible and what will happen is unknown, so try and enjoy what you have.

-Replace negative statements with positive ones. I once asked my boyfriend “Why?”  and he answered me with “Why not?” This made me realize that all things are possible simply with a little effort and a lot of self-motivation.

*

Living our days in positivity will allow us to savor the beautiful moments in life we sometimes take for granted. Best of all, we become empowered in feeling the change in our energy that will allow us to reach our highest potential and achieve daily successes.

*

So remember to Smile… you’re beautiful. What’s your beautiful thought of the day?
